New Projects and Expansion

Great news!  I am thrilled to announce that Sonny is now offering licensed home inspections in Western and Middle Tennessee.  Due to our central location, he can provide inspections to a large area of Tennessee.  We are now advertising in a broader area.  Of course, this applies to our design service as well.

As you know, Sonny and I work together on our design projects.  We have two new design projects going now.  We have started an exciting project to convert a historic log home into a Bed and Breakfast.  This home is absolutely charming and is located in prime hunting and fishing territory of Benton County.  Pictures are coming soon.  We have also purchased an investment property of our own with the intention of flipping it.  It was built in 1900 and has many intact features typical of the time period…..slate tile roof, transom doors throughout, 10′ ceilings, 3 fireplaces and very tall windows.  Yes, it needs lots of work but it has good bones so we are up for the task.  Take a look…..

This is one of the bedrooms.  All three of the bedrooms have fireplaces.  The two doors you see are closet doors.  Even they have transom windows over them……….so much character!

Ok…..we could use some input here….  Remember I said this house has 10′ ceilings?  Well, these overhead cabinets are double stacked and reach all the way to the ceiling.  I’m 5’7″ tall and I can’t even reach the top shelf of the bottom set of cabinets.  We are trying to decide what to do.  We are going to keep these cabinets and have considered several options for resolving the issue of  the top cabinets being inaccessible or to at least break the monotony of so many identical cabinet doors.  Here are a few things we have considered:   1.) installing a library ladder  2.) removing the upper doors to have open shelving, lights and larger crown molding  3.)  modifying the upper doors so that a rectangular glass can be installed in the upper part of the door to resemble the transoms above the interior doors of the home

We would love to hear your ideas!
